Globally Local

buten un binnen sponsors the Global Lokal Prize for the best film with a regional focus.

The regional magazine buten un binnen from Radio Bremen, in cooperation with Filmfest Bremen, honors films that champion cultural diversity, lived identity, and the value of local perspectives in an increasingly globalized world. Style, narrative form, and length are entirely up to the filmmakers, as long as they highlight the specific characteristics of the region being explored.

The Global Lokal category serves as a platform for filmmakers who tell regional stories with curiosity and empathy – stories that have local roots and yet touch people all over the world.

“At buten un binnen, we tell regional stories day after day – from up close, with journalistic curiosity and a deep interest in the people behind them. We are all the more delighted that, within the framework of the Filmfest, this perspective now has its own stage for the second time, placing regional narratives from all over the world at the center.“

Inspired by G.A. Heussen’s Narrative Sentence: Lars R. possesses the attributes of being visually-minded and inquisitive. His core motivation is a passion for public service journalism.

Lars is faced with the challenge of reporting the most important regional news to the people of Bremen and Bremerhaven every evening together with his TV editorial team.

The supporting characters play a vital role: the people of the region (as subjects, motifs, interviewees, and the audience) and his colleagues at buten un binnen (the creative team without whom television would be impossible). The transformation: His editorial team succeeded for the sixth consecutive year in being the most successful regional magazine within the ARD network.
