Every year, more and more people take part in our challenge to shoot a short film in just 48 hours. That’s fantastic! The atmosphere in the cinema and the results speak for themselves. However, since we cannot screen five hours of short films, we have decided that starting this year, only films will be admitted to the competition if at least one person from the core team can attend the premiere in person at the Schauburg on March 28. So please only participate if you are able to be there in person on March 28.

As in previous years, the following rules apply: The films must not be longer than three minutes, must creatively implement a given theme, and must include a specific object.

The competition is made possible by Sparkasse Bremen, which is awarding a total of €3,000 in prize money in the form of jury and audience awards to the winning films. The winners will be decided on the evening of the premiere by both the audience in attendance and the jury.

If you have any questions, please feel free to write to us at klappe@filmfestbremen.com.

“On thin ice” – it could be a classic line in a relationship argument, a comment on the weather, or the motto for a 48h short film competition featuring a compass as the mandatory element. The latter is definitely the only scenario where one manages to produce something creative despite total disorientation and acute sleep deprivation. 25 creative entries reached the big screen on Saturday, March 28, 2026, along with hardworking film teams from all over Bremen and the surrounding areas. It was an exciting evening with a laughing audience, an expansive hosting performance, and even a polar bear (in human form) on stage. This year’s jury was also top-notch, featuring Alexandra Knief from the WESER-KURIER arts desk, Anette Hans from the artistic direction and management of GAK, and Wilfried Hippen, a culture and film journalist for TAZ.

We thank you for a beautiful time with you guys and hope to see you again next year!

Thank you for taking part!

Another year of Klappe! has come and gone and, as every year, we were delighted to welcome an incredible number of creative films and filmmakers. On Friday, March 7, 59 films were shown in front of a sold-out audience at the Schauburg, all of which dealt with this year’s motto “Mut zur Lücke” in a variety of ways. From animated films, through horror and comedies, to highly emotional dramas, there really was everything for the audience.
