Dear visitors of the Filmfest Bremen,

The motto of this year’s theme year in Bremen is “FahrradJA.2024 – Bremen moves you!” And what could be more fitting than a cooperation between Bremen’s highlight for moving images, the Filmfest, and a declaration of love for pedal-powered transportation?
For the second year, the WFB is awarding a prize in a separate category as part of the Filmfest Bremen. This year, the short film award is all about bicycles. It should be short, creative and a little different. But above all: authentic.
I am looking forward to another creative and diverse film festival in 2024 with as many different categories as there are different sides to our Hanseatic city. The festival offers a great forum for the film and media scene and whets the appetite for Bremen. Kiek mol rin! Have a look!

Under the motto “FAHRRADja! 2024 – Bremen moves you”, WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH has called on people to take part in the WFB short film competition. Everyone is welcome, whether amateur or professional, cell phone camera or full HD equipment.
The films must not be longer than one minute and must be about bicycles.

… is the name of the nationwide campaign with which our Hanseatic city is currently drawing attention to itself and declaring the year 2024 FAHRRADja!

 

Is Bremen actually a cycling city? What could a fun or interesting way to get to work, university or school on pedals look like? Are there any special places that are suitable for bike stunts or invite you to a rally? Is it best to travel by e-bike, single-speed or BMX?

 

All of this told briefly, emotionally, loudly or quietly, fictional or documentary and above all as you want it in one (!) minute.

The best films are nominated by a jury of Bremen personalities. We present these films online in advance and invite the nominees and their companions to the award ceremony on 14.04.24 at 5 p.m. at Theater Bremen, Kleines Haus.

Conditions of participation

  • The application period for the WFB Short Film Award “Bremen bewegt Dich” is from 16 February 2024 to 28 March 2024 (midnight).

 

  • The completed films must be received by Friday, 28 March 2024, midnight, using the form at the bottom of this page.

 

  • Important: The file name of the uploaded video file must include the film title and the name of the filmmaker(s), matching the name(s) in the application.
  • The submission should also include details of the director, screenplay, actors, camera, editing, music, sound and any other contributors.

 

  • The following formats are permitted:
    • Container: MOV or MP4
    • Codec: Apple ProPres 422 or H.264
    • Resolution: 1920×1080 px (Full HD)
    • Image sequence: Interlaced/Progressive
    • Frame rate: 25 fps

 

  • The submitted film must not exceed a length of 1 minute (without credits).

Publication

 

By submitting their film, the filmmakers give their consent to Filmfest Bremen to show their film publicly during Filmfest Bremen from 10-14 April 2024 and thereafter on the channels of Filmfest Bremen (website of Filmfest Bremen, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vimeo channel of Filmfest Bremen) until the end of the same year as well as for the calendar year 2024 on any channels of WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH. Any further commercial use requires further agreement and compensation between the filmmakers and WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH.

For the promotion or presentation of the festival and the WFB short film award “Bremen bewegt Dich.” the filmmakers also grant Filmfest Bremen and WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH the provision of excerpts for online, radio and TV exploitation, or make these excerpts available to radio and television stations and online media for reporting. The filmmakers indemnify Filmfest Bremen, WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH and the partners against possible claims by third parties and declare that they are the sole rights holders to the images, sound and music. All other rights to the films remain with the filmmakers.
