About the dream to be unsinkable
At its peak, the GDR’s deep-sea fishing fleet comprised over 100 vessels – the largest fleet ever to sail under the German flag. Not a single ship was lost in 40 years. Today, only a few of these steel giants remain. Rostock-based director Tom Fröhlich tracked down four of them: in Greenland, in Spain, at a Danish scrapyard, and in the port of Hamburg. They are the last witnesses to a vanished working world and, at the same time, living places of remembrance. A maritime local history, narrated by Charly Hübner.
