For some, a port is a permanent fixture in life – forever anchored, as it is for a little dog in an Italian marina or the Basque weavers who eternally mend fishing nets with salt scarred hands, as well as some goods from the colonial era. For others, a port is a place of departure and arrival, be it on a traditional ferry across the Weser, whilst thinking poetic thoughts and even after an escape – always connected to hope.
