FREE AT HEART
Sixteen-year-old Sebastian enjoys his teenage life in a small town. His favorite way to end each summer day is at the lake, with beer and weed, alongside his girlfriend. Then Kolja, a boy his own age, suddenly enters his family’s life — supposedly the son of a deceased friend of Sebastian’s father. The boy immediately captivates everyone. No one, however, quite as deeply as Sebastian. What follows is an emotional rollercoaster that tears Sebastian out of his everyday life. „Free at Heart“, the debut film by breakout director Max Hegewald, is an intense coming-of-age drama about a love that breaks every rule — and about feelings that simply cannot be switched off.
