NO EXIT
Actors need their audience. When the usual creative work comes to a standstill due to a pandemic, when one is unexpectedly left without an acquisition or perspective, it can seem like hell to suddenly be thrown back on oneself and one’s own four walls. An inspiration for actor Lukas Benjamin Engel, who then decided to initiate the elaboration of Jean Paul-Sartre’s “Closed Society” as a creative testimony to our difficult situation in the pandemic: E-castings, no direction, no agreements, absolute freedom in the shaping of the text and the chosen means. Over 70 participants in 4 basic costumes bring 49 play pages to life in over 100 individual contributions and give us an insight into their individual purgatory.
