With just 6,000 black rhinos remaining, Kiloku has dedicated his life to protecting them. Despite over 500 rhinos being poached in 2023, Kenya has not lost any rhinos in three years, and Kiloku’s team hasn’t since 2014, resulting in a growing sanctuary population. However, limited space and rising demand for illicit rhino horn have made conditions dire. Kiloku and new ranger Rita plan to relocate 21 aggressive rhinos to a safer area 60 miles away, but their efforts are stalled by the worst drought on record and escalating violence from bandits. The situation is critical, marked by attacks on wildlife and the death of one of Kiloku’s teammates.
