Stealing Land
Two couples meet to discuss an incident at school.
Their sons were playing Zemljo krast – Stealing Land a traditional playground game where children draw territories in the dirt, throw a stick, and claim pieces of each other’s land until one player dominates. What should remain a harmless pastime turns into a source of unease when one boy decides to be “Palestine.” Suddenly, the game becomes a mirror of the world, and the parents are pulled into the argument. The debate spins out of control. Soon they are arguing about literature and racism, climate change, energy, pacifism, the ethics of purebred dogs, even sterilization policies. The living room becomes a courtroom and a battlefield.
