The opening film is “WITH MY THOUGHTS ON THE SEA,” which is set in Piombino, Italy, and shows the economic problems faced by fishermen who are forced to work with larger fishing boats. However, Nedo decides to remain independent, which comes with its own price.
This is followed by the film “WILD WATERFRONT,” a documentary that follows the work of the Wildlife Management Team at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa. Set within a busy working harbour surrounded by residential, retail and tourism spaces, the film introduces team members as they monitor, protect and rescue urban wildlife. Audiences encounter a remarkable range of animals, including Cape fur seals, sunfish, birds and Cape clawless otters, as they witness their interactions with an ever-present urban environment. Through intertwined stories of wildlife and people, the film reveals the complexity of urban ecosystems and the importance of human–wildlife coexistence
