hanseWasser Sustainability Award

In past years, we always directed a special focus during the film festival on special aspects in art and society in connection with film. Last year, this was the focus on sustainability with its own competition. This year, we have replaced the focus with the new international competition of German premieres, but it was still important to us to continue this theme. Together with hanseWasser this year we decided to select from all the competition participants in the Humor, Innovation, Bremen Film and the German Premieres sections the films, which are dedicated to the topic of sustainability in terms of content – be it satirical, documentary or fictional-metaphysical.

We live in a world that is threatened by ecological collapse. In order to prevent this, we must also set some new course at the societal level. Our six contributions (three short films, three features) primarily also stand for the social sustainable aspect.

The hanseWasser Sustainability Award will be presented on Friday, April 14, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Atlantis Film theater. Admission is for invited guests only. The laudatory speech on the theme of sustainability will be given by Anne-Kathrin Laufmann, Managing Director of Sport and Sustainability at SV Werder Bremen.

Ekkehart Siering – Geschäftsführer hanseWasser Bremen

“Sustainability is a responsibility – and it affects us all. That is why it is important that the diverse topics and perspectives of sustainability have an impact on us, that we are sensitized to them, and perhaps even question ourselves and our actions.

For hanseWasser as a wastewater company in Bremen, sustainability is a central focus.

The medium of film is an excellent way to reach people in a sustainable way. That is why we are very pleased to support the Bremen Film Festival again this year. With the “hanseWasser Nachhaltigkeitspreis“,” we honor filmmakers whose works are dedicated to a sustainability theme, or who have made their film production particularly sustainable. A commitment that we are happy to honor with this special prize.

In this spirit, we wish all visitors, participating filmmakers and all those involved to have an exciting film festival and many sustainable cinema experiences.”
