Idea &
Participation

The challenge of the short film competition Klappe!, which is connected to the Filmfest Bremen, is to produce short films on a specific theme in just 48 hours. Anyone can take part, from amateurs to professionals. The condition is that the motto of the competition is creatively adapted in the film. All genres are welcome.

Submissions

The finished films must be send via the form at the end of this website by 8 p.m. on 10 March 2024.
Important: The filename of the uploaded video file must include the film title and the name of the filmmaker, matching the name in the application. In addition, information on the director, script, actors, camera, editing, music, sound and, if applicable, other contributors should also be provided with the submission.

The following formats are permitted:
Container: MOV or MP4
Codec: Apple ProPres 422 or H.264
Resolution: 1920×1080 px (Full HD)
Frame rate: Interlaced/Progressive Frame rate: 25 fps
The submitted film must not exceed a length of 3 minutes including credits.

Rights &
Publication

With the submission of their film, the filmmakers grant Filmfest Bremen their consent to show their film publicly on the channels of Filmfest Bremen (Filmfest Bremen website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vimeo channel of Filmfest Bremen). For the promotion or presentation of the festival, the filmmakers also grant Filmfest Bremen the provision of excerpts (max. 90 seconds in total) for online, radio and TV exploitation, or make these excerpts available to radio and TV stations as well as online media for reporting purposes. The filmmakers release Filmfest Bremen and its partners from possible claims by third parties and declare that they are the sole owners of the rights to images, sound and music. All other rights to the films remain with the filmmakers.

Voting

All Klappe! short films that meet the content and technical requirements and have been submitted in time are admitted to the competition and will celebrate their cinema premiere at the award ceremony on 23 March 2024 at the Schauburg Bremen. Voting will take place exclusively by audience vote on site. Each audience member can cast exactly two votes for two different films. All submitting filmmakers will be invited to attend and, if applicable, receive their award in person.
